Based on the novel by Jane Austen, Emma Abridged traces the often frantic, always hilarious quest by Emma Woodhouse to marry off all of Highbury except herself, of course. Content to be healthy, wealthy, and single, what shall Emma do when she finds herself drawn to her neighbor, Mr. Knightley? About the Author: Kayla Hambek is a playwright and actor whose work has been published in The Coachella Review and the Santa Ana River Review, and seen onstage at the Wellstone Center, Theatre Garages, and Sabes JCC with Aethem Theatre Company. She is an MFA Playwriting candidate at Augsburg University, and has appeared onstage with the Guthrie Theater, Lyric Arts, Chameleon Theatre Circle, and many more. Kayla hails from Minneapolis, MN, where she lives with her cat, Charlotte, and more Jane Austen paraphernalia than any human should own. SEE ROCK CITY

At the KFC buffet, Gator is pleasantly surprised by a complete strangers generosity. What he doesn't realize is that her gift isn't at all what it seems. See Rock City is a short play the explores the lengths one might go to lift the spirit of another, even if only for a fleeting moment. About the Playwright: Born and raised in Kentucky, Kelli Lynn Woodend received her undergraduate degree from Berea College and her MFA from Murray State. She has written scripts for Emmy Award-winning documentaries at History Channel and PBS. For the last decade she has worked with the Muppets and Sesame Studios. Her plays have been produced in New York, Boston, Flagstaff, Albuquerque, Bellingham, Spokane and other cities across the country. She is a two-time winner of Fusion Theatre's Seven Festival, and her first full-length play Angel Food Cake won the national 2016 playwriting award held by Strange Sun Theater in New York. She recently moved to the Florida coast with her husband, cat, and baby on the way. |

A middle-aged woman anxiously awaits the arrival of her daughter and boyfriend, both college seniors, for she believes they will announce their engagement. Their announcement proves to be a far different one, both perplexing and gravely disappointing. Initially frustrated by her husbands indifference, she learns that he is much savvier than he appears. About the Playwright: Shawn is a former English teacher who taught literature and writing to teenagers in Maine, Wyoming, North Carolina, and New Jersey. Currently she serves as a school librarian. After her stint as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz in fourth grade, decades passed before she returned to the stage as an adult. Five years ago, she began writing short plays, which have been produced locally and in a few other states. She has also won short story contests and recently wrote her first middle-grade novel. She lives in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, with her husband and three children. STANDING TALL

The lines are blurred as performance art takes on a whole new meaning when the artwork talks back to the two ladies! About the Playwright: Nancy Frick is the author of a number of plays, including Four Weddings and an Elvis, Waiting for the Fat Lady to Sing, Exit Date, For Goodness’ Sake, The Quick Fix and Roomies. Four Weddings is published by Samuel French and performed regularly in the U.S. and beyond. Her other works have also been produced regionally. Nancy prefers writing comedies and always strives to create characters of real heart for plays that are not only funny but moving at their core. Doris wants to believe in the well, but blustery, melodramatic Ed is going through a mid-life crisis and he's skeptical that anything can improve his situation. Doris convinces him to make a wish, and then a young American woman appears who transforms Ed's attitude. Ed feels younger than he has in years and he makes a momentous decision. Who is the American woman? There is a surprising twist at the end of this short comedy. About the Playwright: John McDonnell’s comic plays have been featured in theater festivals in Alabama, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Washington. John is a founding member of The Playwrights’ Bridge, a playwriting workshop in Bucks County. He is also the author of 24 ebooks of fiction, including the Rose Of Skibbereen series, about Irish immigrants to Philadelphia. John has an MA in English Literature from Villanova University. He currently lives in Doylestown. |
